Turning talk into action

Wrappup was founded by Rami Salman and co-founded by Ayush Chordia and Rishav Jalan. The company began by building working prototype in under 24 hours, winning Angelhack Dubai 2015.

Through 4 years at Bain & Company, Rami experienced the power of productive meetings with clients across industries. He designed the app based on accumulated best practice and extensive research on meeting productivity. Ayush built the multi-platform cloud-based app and unleashed the power of speech and voice-print recognition technology to enhance the experience. Rishav built the Android app to be intuitive, quick, and scalable. Both have developed at breakneck speed, the engine for the tech growth.

In September 2016, Wrappup secured $800,000 in funding led by BECO Capital along with Arzan VC and other investors.

Wrappup was acquired by Voicea (USA) in 2018, which was acquired by Cisco the following year.

Boxit is an on-demand storage company which started in Kuwait and aims to replace the traditional self-storage model. We connect people who need extra space to store their personal items to reputable logistics & warehousing companies with spare space to store them.

Boxit started in Kuwait in early 2015 and has raised a seed round, which helped them to expand to the UAE and scale their marketing and operations in Kuwait as well. Now they are focusing on growing in the UAE and studying expansion opportunities to other larger markets such as KSA and Egypt.

Boxit has the competitive advantage of not owning a warehouse but renting space from other warehouse owners. This enables the startup to scale faster with less capital and utilize unused storage capacity of existing warehouses. Boxit has partnered with Aramex for storage in the UAE and Kuwait.

As a teenager fascinated with computer programming, Ala AlSallal volunteered for Ruwwad, an Amman-headquartered non-profit community development organization, teaching other young people basic computer literacy. With the support of Ruwwad’s founder Fadi Ghandour, who became his mentor, Ala launched Jamalon – which means ‘top of the pyramid’ – in October 2010.
